Striking design, around-the-clock versatility and sheer size were the factors that made KAOS at the Palms the talk of the town after the megaclub’s April debut weekend. Now it’s time for the venue to launch its strongest innovation, the feature most likely to set KAOS apart from the competition—a 70-foot-tall transparent dome that will create 33,000 square feet of year-round pool party space.
KAOS has been closed since September 15 to allow for construction of the new, custom enclosure, created by Miami-based EventStar Structure Corp. The club reopens October 31, and crews have been finalizing installation of the dome this week.

Turning Tent-Making Into Art

Eventstar Structures, a small company based in Medley, made its first sales in 1999 renting tents to Miami families staging parties at their homes.

Today Eventstar is an enterprise with an international footprint, 110 employees and annual sales of more than $27 million.
​
It rents and sells elegant and custom-designed tents able to house thousands of people for events like the Kentucky Derby, the Miami International Boat Show, exhibits at Art Basel, the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, the Los Angeles Auto Show and for a spate of corporations in the U.S., Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Ralph Lauren Takes to the Street for Fashion Week Show

In the can-you-top-this stakes of New York Fashion Week stunts, Ralph Lauren is nearly shutting down one block of Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side to host the label’s latest women’s runway show. The block, between 71st and 72nd streets, is home to Mr. Lauren’s flagship women’s store on the left, its men’s store on the right, and children’s store.

Models will emerge from the women’s store to sashay down Madison Avenue in a giant glass-enclosed tent. Immediately after, the women’s store will be open to guests and customers, who will be able to buy anything from the collection that was just shown.
